Aviation Security

The Aviation Security department is responsible for the oversight of aviation security in the Republic of Kenya. This is achieved through:-

  1. Development and maintenance of the National Civil Aviation Security Programme, the National Civil Aviation Security Training Programme, the National Civil Aviation Security Quality Control Programme and the National Aviation Security Personnel Certification Programme;
  2. Conduct of aviation security audits, inspections, system tests, investigations and surveys on airports, airlines, regulated (cargo) agents, in-flight catering operators;
  3. Certification of regulated agents, in-flight catering operators, aviation security training centres and aviation security service providers;
  4. Certification of aviation security personnel, i.e. aviation security screeners and their supervisors, instructors and inspectors;
  5. Approval of aviation security programmes for airports, airlines, regulated agents, in-flight catering operators and the air navigation service provider;
  6. Defining and allocating tasks and co-ordinating activities under the National Civil Aviation Security Programme between aviation security stakeholders through the National Civil Aviation Security Committee.
