Issuance of Mode 'S' Transponder Codes for Aircraft

The Engineering Services Department issues 24-binary bit mode ‘S’ transponder codes to aircraft at a fee of US$ 75 per aircraft.

The application procedure is as follows:

  1. The customer applies for allocation of the code to;

    Indicate in the letter the aircraft registration and serial numbers. Attach a copy of Certificate of Registration (C of R) of the aircraft to the letter.
  2. Once the letter is received at KCAA, an officer in the Engineering Services Department will be assigned to raise a Customer Requisition Form, indicating the company name, aircraft registration number and the amount to be paid.
  3. The completed customer requisition form will be given to the customer who will present it to the KRA office housed within the Aviation House to pay the fees.
  4. Once the payment is made and a receipt issued by the KRA, the customer will return the Customer Requisition Form to the Engineering Services Department who will process and allocate a Mode ‘S’ Transponder Code to the aircraft and issue it to the customer.
